The Wavemakers Youth Program
The Wavemakers program informs, engages, encourages action and celebrates the impact that youth are having on local and global water issues.
Wavemakers includes three elements directed to different age groups.
- Interactive, educational presentations
- Think Water Contest
- Youth Summit program
The program was launched with lead support from Petro-Canada in March 2005. Since inception 90 youth organizations have participated in Wavemakers. In the 2008/2009 school year the youth organizations reached 18,386 youth in the one year alone. Among these, 35 youth organizations planned 166 independent activities to raise awareness, encourage conservation and raise funds for overseas projects.
